Men’s Ministries

Men’s Ministries

The Men’s Ministries of Bishop Janes Church foster opportunities for all men of the church to encounter spiritual growth, to provide support for each other, and to become involved in community service. Men’s Ministries include, but are not limited to:

Tower Club

The Tower Club sponsors several meetings per year, alternating between Saturday morning breakfasts and weekday evening networking meetings. All men and boys are invited to participate.

The weekday evening agenda varies from meeting to meeting but always includes a light meal (soup, sandwiches, or pizza for example) and plenty of time for fellowship and networking. Some meetings have a guest speaker. Other meetings may involve a family activity such as a trip to Commerce Park to enjoy Somerset Patriots’ baseball. All meetings focus on strengthening relationships and spiritual growth.

The Saturday morning breakfasts are generally associated with accomplishing a specific task such as church clean-up or the annual Christmas tree rack set-up morning in November. No meetings are planned for the summer months and the month of December.

Small Discussion Groups

There are currently groups meeting early on weekday and Sunday mornings, at times that are most convenient for the participants. The discussions center on social, moral, religious and personal issues so that a small group of men can get to know each other on a deeper level. Some of the groups meet in homes while others meet at the church.

Retired Men’s Breakfast

The ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) as they call themselves meet every other Thursday at 8 AM at the Minuteman Restaurant in Bernardsville . These gatherings are social and, due to group size (10-16 men), usually consist of several small light-hearted discussions on the topics that are of concern and/or interest to the participants. Fellowship and discussion are the goals of this group.

Christmas Tree Sales

Many men and their families donate their time to unload, price, rack and sell Christmas trees and other holiday greenery. This is an annual church event and community tradition that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past 50+ years. All net proceeds support local charities and community service organizations.
