Service to others, both in our local community and around the world,  has been part of the Bishop Janes “DNA” for generations.  Thousands know us through our annual Christmas tree sales to support local caregiving charities, the temporary housing we provide for homeless families through Interfaith Hospitality Network, the lunches we prepare for local Senior Learning seminars, and the myriad other ways Bishop Janes members volunteer for ministry both inside and  beyond the walls of our church building.

We invite you to explore the current and upcoming service opportunities at Bishop Janes.  Let’s do something great together!

+ Christmas Tree Sale

For thousands in our local community, Bishop Janes' annual Christmas Tree Sale is our most visible service event, as we literally light up the center of Basking Ridge during the Advent season to raise money for local care-giving charities.  For our congregation, this is a wonderful chance to fellowship with each other and meet new friends.

+ Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)

Bishop Janes UMC is proud to serve as a member of the Interfaith Hospitality Network, an association of congregations that provide short-term housing on church premises for families that have recently lost their homes.

+ Music Ministry

Bishop Janes welcomes current and aspiring musicians of all ages to participate in its enthusiastic program of music ministry.  With a full range of adult and children's choirs, a bell choir, a contemporary worship band,  and an instrumental ensemble, there are opportunities for musicians of all kinds.  Composers, songwriters, and arrangers also find a place to share their gifts at BJUMC.

+ BJUMC Standing Committees

If your gifts lie in the areas of administration and leadership, consider service on one of BJUMC's standing committees.  Serving behind the scenes,  these individuals make sure that the other ministries of our church run smoothly and are well supported.
