OUR LOCAL UNIT
The United Methodist Women at Bishop Janes Church work hard to fulfill its Purpose. We strive to be an open community of women with a variety of opportunities to grow and serve in mission. Our unit meets on the first Tuesday of every month from June to September at 9:30 a.m. in Melick Hall to discuss business at hand and to plan upcoming events. All women, whether members of the church or not, are invited to attend. Babysitting is provided for all our meetings and programs.
Our local unit currently holds a roster of approximately 113 women. A core group of 25 women comprise the Executive Board. We presently have several circles that meet on a regular basis for fellowship and to work on projects. We hold special programs throughout the year. During 2011-2012 we have held programs about domestic violence, a U.M.W. member’s presentation about her mission trip to Haiti and a high school age church member’s mission work with Operation Smile. We sponsored the Ridge A. Capella Choir concert and a one woman show “Women of the Bible.”
